AVG Free is good and free, as well as easy on system resources, unlike any of those you mentioned.
The best one is the one that you keep updated and use.

Any is good. Most are real good. They only work when used and updated. Don't think there is a best.
It does matter more to use "best practices" to avoid getting them in the first place.

This has been asked too many times - run a query in the Security & virus forum for reliant responses.

Like Sabertooth, I don't like seeing this old chestnut being asked over and over.
Using the search facility would get the answers quicker than posting the question.
Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

just look up the tests of some independent anti virus test boards, pick some of the best finishing contenders and see which you like best (and you'll hardly find any symantec products there which are NOT a good choice :-)

I dont care for the big boys, like symantic and mcaffee. Seem to hog resources.
FOr free clients, I would pick AVG IF you look into paid. I've been using NOD32 for awhile. Works great.

IMHO I would recommend Bitdefender Standard. I've been using it for some time now with great success. Not only is it extremely low-priced it doesn't hog system resources. It updates really fast and also alerts you about processes that try to access the internet that it thinks could be of any risk to you. Awesome product!!
I own my own computer service business and I use this antivirus on all of my clients computers. Just MHO.
