So has anyone please got idea's how I can find out this info?

hey guy, cut the ram back to 256, see how it runs.
768 is too much on some boards.
boot up, pause the first screen. in the lower left hand corner. shouild be a motherboard identifyer number there.

download that, it's a small utility called Bios Wisard.

it will tell you all the information about your BIOS you need to know.

Don't be to hasty on Flashing the BIOS...
My advice to you is try being a bit more patient with your PC and identify the possible causes at first...What I mean there are a number of reasons why it can be slow...An Athlon XP 1.4GHz and 768MB RAM doesn't say too much about your configuration so I'll try to guess some reasons to start with:
1) Hardwarewise you haven't told us how many DIMMS of RAM you got installed on the M/B. However, judging by the amount you either have A)1 512MB DIMM and 1 256MB or B)3 256MB DIMMS... The 2nd option is far more convenient as no Windows OS is 100% stable with DIMMS with different amounts of RAM. If B is your case however you can take advantage of your (mostly unusable) half Gig or so...
2) Download and Run SiSoft Sandra (I know its a cliche but...) I have a feeling you will find everything you need to know from there... Run a Benchmark to compare your performance in relation to same specified machines...You should be happy to get a 5-7% lower score than Sandras results.
3) I would also recommend X-Teq Systems Setup to tweak the settings of your PC...
4) With 768MB YOU SHOULD DEFINATELY TRY TO LOAD THE WHOLE OF YOUR OS's CORE DIRECTLY TO RAM as this would greatly improve system performance...

I hope it helps...In any case, whatever you do Don't expect WinXP to be as fast as 98...In no way at all...
