what would cause a computer to shut down, the

Specs: Windows XP
My computer started just completely shutting off, I unplugged the power cord, waited a few minutes, plugged it back in and it came on. Finally it would not come back on at all. I had a friend work on it, he said it was very dusty inside, he cleaned it. Went thru everything and it seemed to be fine. Now after a few weeks it has started to cut off again, but I can turn it right back on so far. I have talked to my friend, he seems to think it might be the power supply, or something is over heating. Can anyone give me some advice? Lynda

Power supply seems like the best place to start. Most shops will test it for free.
Best to call and remove it before taking it in.
