I apologize in advance if this is something everyone is asking...I tried the search but haven't been able to find anything that seems specific enough...

How do I know what processes shouldn't be running on my machine? I've run Spybot S&D, Adaware, the shredder, and Hijack this. I was wondering if there was any way someone could look at my log and tell me what I ought to do to get myself running a little better. My dial-up has slowed down horribly recently, and although I turned off the auto-detect of proxy settings, it's still slow. I don't do much but download accessories for desktop themes (pointers, icons, wallpapers, sounds) and occasionally sims skins.
