I firmly believe that e-books are the future of publishing. It's just we haven't quite got there yet. I want to write an e-book for general consumption that would be useful to the users of Computing.Net.
Does anyone have any good ideas? I've decided to license anything I write under a Creative Commons license too.
Thanks in advance,
James

Write a book about proper, relevant questions that qualify to post on a computer help forum like this.
Musky
If the voices inside my head paid rent, I'd be rich!

I meant, as in, not for any particular sub-culture: suitable for both newbies and the more advanced users. :-)

I believe you missed the point: I think XPuser was being as sarcastic as I was. This is a forum for Windows XP help, not to further your literary career.

I don't mind most of them, except the ones that keep urging me to track down and maim most people I meet in Computer forums :)

HaHa !!! You guys crack me up. I hope you don't hear the name Grasshopper :))
Keep Smiling
It makes them think you're up to something...

No, I didn't miss the point. I took it as a friendly gesture, but Computing.Net rarely has this sort of thing any more.
This point has been discussed many times: although this a forum for Windows XP help, there is no other "off-topic" forum (where this would be suited) and, as such, most users prefer to post in the busiest forum.
I am not trying to further my "literary career", as you put it, but instead create a resource for others to use and hopefully appreciate. Obviously you don't share such wishes.
I do hate it when topics that could have otherwise been a useful contribution turn into this pointless drivel that nobody really gives a damn about. I try to make every post I contribute useful to the topic, at least.

You make some valid points James but as you so rightly observe you have posted in the busiest forum of all and it is busy because posters have a tendency to post useless questions here and if I were a moderator I would be inclined to follow up on Musky's advice.
However perhaps there is a call for an "Off Topic" page within this forum.
Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

My question is not one of those that would be easy to find by using the search tool. I think if people could somehow be forced to read an understand this, we would get more useful questions and responses.

Already been discussed many times. The webmaster, Justin Weber, decided against it.
Generally, I think it usually is down to an unwillingness for participants in a topic to actually stay on topic. This usually leads astray and makes a long, unwieldy page. (Just like this!)
