I'm sorry to ask what some may think to be a stupid question, but could someone tell me what is the procedure to turn an MP3 that has been downloaded, into a file that can be played in my car cd player? My car cd player is not an MP3 player, it is just a plain Alpine cd/am/fm deck.
I always thought you HAD to convert the MP3 into a Wav file, and then burn that Wav file onto a cd to be played on a cd player.
I have Nero 6 and Nero MP3 Encoder. When I use the Nero MP3 Encoder, it changes the MP3 file to a file that is playable on my car cd player. I don't know if it changed it to a Wav file or not.I do know that the MP3 file changes in size from a 3meg file to a 12meg file, but is there another way to burn a good quality cd without all the converting? I've been told that a Wav file is 'old fashion'.
I appreciate all responses.
Bruce

Does your cd bruning software have a create music cd option? you can use that to automatically encode an mp3 into the desired format. However, some cd payers don't read burned cds, or at least they say they dont and then the sometimes work, sometimes cant skip tracks other times eject automatically! Your best bet is to determine if your cd player can play fabricated disks. finally, you can buy cd-r's that are designed to be used with music.

Nero has a create music cd with your package use that to create the cd you do not need to convert the format as Nero does this for you.

Also I found the most relibable burns are done on discs with a silver surface, the blue or golds tend to work only some of the time.

My next problem is that when I go to Nero to 'Make Music CD', and I drag some files that are Windows Media Audio (WMA), Nero tells me that it is an unsupported file.
How can I get around this problem?

Zeb and everyone, thanks. But the last problem, and one I don't think any of us can get around is DRM (Digital Rights Managenment). Any converter I use will give me tha same results when I try to convert the WMA to MP3 or whatever else- DRM prevents ANY change to the file. So the files I downloaded from the new Napster for $0.99ea are,as far as I'm concerned, useless since I can't put them on cd to play in my car.
If amyone knows of a work-around, I'm all ears.

Do a google search. Type something like "drm convert wav mp3" and see what comes up. You'd be surprised what you find sometimes.

You can also turn off copyright protection in Windows Media Player (it's enabled by default)and use the built in burner. I don't know if that would work, but you might try.

You can use a program such as Messer that records, in real-time, all sounds going thru your sound card. So you can play a song in Windows Media Player and use Messer to save it as a wav or mp3 file. (You can also use Messer to record streaming audio from websites or to record songs from casette tape/vinal record if you hook up the tape player/turntable to your computer's "line in.")

You don't have to anything to convert wma to mp3. go here http://www.nero.com/us/wma-plugin.php and download the wma plugin for nero and it will stop telling you that it is supported.

And to burn files from Napster, You have to use the burning options inside Napster. Its in there somewhere.
