Please advise me as i am stuck in a hole at the moment, lately xp pro has been giving me lots of grief, over slowing down suddenly, start menu taking ages to open up, boot problems, crashes etc, i had almost none of this when i had windows 2000 pro.
i am undecided whether to revert back to 2000, only reaso i like xp is cos of the picture and fax viewer thing. other than that no way

What are peoples views on xp and 2000 against each other, p.s its for home use only, not networking etc.

Thanks in advance :) p.s sorry posted previous in the 2000 forum :S

Sounds to me like you have a virus or worm at work. XP simply does not (normally) have the problems you describe. I have not had a crash with my XP computer in nearly a year. And it doesn't slow down.
Try an on-line scan to make certain you are virus free.
Hope this helps. And good luck.

I could have written George's answer. My experience exactly. Do as he says, and download Spybot and AdAware (find them in a google search), update them, and run them to see if some spyware, etc. is in your computer. XP's a good and stable OS and just takes some getting used to.
