I have a Compaq Presario S6010V and I'm trying to get a graphic card for it so I can run my game faster. I need to know whether I need an AMD card or a PCI card. Does anyone know? Also, what is the best card available for $200?

I'm afraid that I have bad news...
Your computer has an integrated Intel Extreme graphics port, which is attached to the motherboard.
This means that you don't have a AGP or PCI Express slot to plug in any graphics card. You can almost always tell when a computer has integrated graphics instead of a graphics card because the monitor plugs in vertically instead of horizontally.
Almost all advertised and store shelf computers have integrated graphics, because they are intended to be throw away systems, and not be upgraded. That's why most computers are replaced every 4 years instead of every 10, thereby costing more than an inexpensive quality computer.I don't sell computers, but I do make recommendations to my clients, and teach them how to spend the least amount of money over the longest period of time, and have the most capabilities for the price.

Before you waste your money on a video card, be sure to upgrade your ram, as 256 is marginal! Also if the cpu is a celeron, you are limited in what games you can run due to your limited cpu. It would appear that your computer does not have an agp slot. Open the case and look to see if it does, as Compaq did make some that do have an agp slot. If you do not have an agp slot, then get a pci card. Read the reviews at PC World, or the user reviews at NewEgg. Just about any card will be better than you on board video system. When you get your card, be sure to remove the old video drivers using add/remove programs and then restart the computer and enter the bios to disable the on board video in the bios. Good luck!
