PaulPaul, ‘sychost.exe’ appears to be related to the Leox.B Worm. I'd post this in the Security and Virus forum and ask for help. Have you updated your Anti-virus/Anti-malware pragrams and run a full scans?

Sychost.exe is a system file. Do not try to stop it! If you are worried about anything bad run a decent anti malware program like Malwarebytes. You can get it here
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
I trust you have anti virus software installed? If not then get one now from
http://antivirus.comodo.com/
or
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-a...
AVG was regarded as being good but it seems to be a resource hog with version 8, the latest one.
If you scan the computer and there is no reports of virus or malware, then stop worrying about sychost.exe.
The thing you should be looking at is not memory use but CPU time used by applications. The more CPU time used will have a much greater effect on the computer speed than memory used.
Also look at what is started with windows. Take a look by the system clock, lower right of the screen. Click the button with right facing arrow. How many icons do you see? The more icons there, the more programs are running in the background, most of which don't need to run!
sychost.exe is normal and in most cases it is NOT anything suspicious! My computer currently has 8 instances of it running and I KNOW I do not have any viruses, trojans or any malware running! If you have taken sensible precautions you need not worry!

bazzab posted, "Sychost.exe is a system file." That file is NOT a system file. You're thinking of svchost.exe which IS a system file. Note the difference in spelling.

Sychost.exe = Virus related file.

Svchost.exe = System file.

Tufenuf sorry, you're right! However the Malware bytes software is very good at spotting nasty stuff!
I hope it can remove this from PaulPaul's machine. Apologies for the lack of noticing the misspelling of the genuine article!
