What is the Windows Program that makes sure that all system files are not corrupt? SFC or something like that. And do you need to run it in Safe Mode? Also, after running Windows Update for so many months on this machine, does using the original install disk really work with this program? TIA

SFC is the correct program name and it can be run in normal mode. It's usually used with the /scannow switch. I've used it occasionally and even with updates the original disk works. I don't recall the nature of my problem but it didn't fix what ailed my OS. Is there something your trying to fix with SFC?

Start by looking at the event viewer logs. Each entry can be looked up usually for more info.

Guess might be the configuration that you have for an email client (or lack of) but see the logs.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Jennifer, of course you are correct. I hope I have not offended you in any way as I do not want to do anything against the rules. I was merely answering a question from a previous poster. Have a great day...
