Can anyone tell me what symproxysvc.exe is? it keeps asking for server rights on zone alarm, and i dont want to give it server rights untill i know what it is. If it is harmless how do i disable it? as everytime i connect to the internet zone alarm goes off.
Thanks in advance
Rachel

I'm not sure about your .exe message-but here's a solution to your problem- go to Add/Remove Progs and REMOVE ZONE ALARM- it is not fully compliant with XP and everytime you either plug in USB/Ethernet or phone line you will get a blue screen with an error message- at least this was my problem- you don't need Zone Alarm with XP- just go to the Network Connections and enable the firewall that comes with XP- it's supposed to be very strong and very hard to get through. Good Luck.

The Symproxysvc is possible insecured proxy wingater port 1080, I suggest put your ZA firewall to Block or you can get STARTSTOP program to stop the symproxysvc.exe program at http://www.tfi-technology.com/startstop.htm
Once you installed the StartStop and look on the listings for the symproxysvc.exe and click that program you want to STOP runs then reboot the puter and your startstop take effects.

Zonealarm is fully functional with XP.Tim is wacky. If you rely on the XP firewall then you are not protected as well as you should be.
