Specs: WinXP Pro

What exactly is SPTD.SYS ?
I have been told that it is a system32 file and that it is malware/spyware and some have been deleting it and then their safe mode boot pauses after the sys files load, but dont know if that is a coincidence.
There are also stories of people getting the message:
Press Esc to load SPTD.SYS during safe mode boot

SPTD.SYS

Y'know, it's not that hard to find your own answers (instead of relying on "someone told me... ")

It is not a scumware or spyware file. However, if you install Vista, that PITA file will put a wedge so deep between Windows & any optical emulation software that you try to install that it might as well be spyware ;-(

SPTD.SYS is part of daemon tools, a cd/dvd emulation tool, that allows you to mount iso images as virtual drives.

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'
