I recently bought a HP7935 Pavilion with XP and I installed a Norton Firewall. Last night I received many security alerts for something called 'Windows Subsystem' attempting to go outbound from my computer and the risk factor was rated High. I also got dozens of alerts for "Win32 exe." I'm wondering what those things are and if they are something to worry about. I ran an application scan and granted permission for them to run while being monitored and the alerts stopped. Can anyone help?

It may well be a Virus or a trojan. But there is no need to panic it might not be.

Go here for a free virus check

and here for a Trojan Remover (30 day trial)

Thanks, I went to moosoft and downloaded the free cleaner but it had a problem making a complete scan, I turned off the virus and firewall protection and it still couldn't scan one particular file due to denied access. I tried to email moosoft but my email has HTML formatting and it wouldn't go thru...how do you change email from HTML to plain text?

Tools | Options | Mail Format | Drop-down Box (this is for Outlook, but I guess it's pretty similar for OE)

Thanx, but I have CompuServe 2000 which is strickly HTML, but I learned that if you type it in Arial, highlight the message, click text, then Normal and then mail it while it's still highlighted, it works like a charm.
Now if somebody could just tell me what "Windows Subsystem" is???

Jim
