What Format From Pinnacle-Nero?

I do all my capturing in Pinnacle 8 (since Nero 6 doesn't see my DC10Plus Pinnacle Capture Card). I want to then go directly to Nero 6 to do all my editing amd burning to DVD. My question is: after capturing in Pinnacle, do I convert to an AVI or MPEG? Nero 6 can see an AVI or MPEG, but not the file Pinnacle created after capturing (.STU). Any help appreciated!!! Bruce
