Your subject got cut off at the end there. What is your question?

The stuff you posted looks like a standard Microsoft security bulletin - with a few exceptions.

1) Real Microsoft security bulletins usually specify the servic-pack level that vulnerabilities apply to. You wouldn't see "Microsoft Windows 2000" - you would see "Microsoft Windows 2000 sp3", for example.

2) Real security bulletins always reference the security bulletin number. MS05-002, for example.

3) There are numerous (albeit minor) grammatical errors in the stuff you posted.

4) The updates are referred to as "fixes". Microsoft never refers to patches as fixes. To do so would be an adminssion that their software is broken. Real security bulletins refer to updates as patches, updates, or corrections.

5) Microsoft does not and has never charged for hotfixes. This: Cost: $19.95 - One time charge is a pretty clear indication that whatever you posted did not come from Microsoft.

So, to answer the part of your question that didn't get cut off, this message probably means that someone is either trying to scam you by getting you to pay for software that can and should be obtained freely or somebody is trying to scam you into downloading and installing software of unknown origin. Either way, I am pretty sure that the text you posted did not come from Microsoft and should be ignored.

More information about fake Microsoft security bulletins is here.

I suggest doing a virus scan. There was a virus going round a while back that had the CD opening as one of it's symptoms. I don't remember exactly which virus it was, but it was a while back, so any recently updated antivirus software should find it.

There are 24 hours in a day, and 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?
I think not!

Its time to retire it. Even after a reformat it doese it. Also that message had to do with installing Yahoo Messenger. I don't think its a big deal now. It had nothing to do with the CD Rom the message came on this computer also. So its something with Yahoo i installed Yahoo with custom and only installed the IM and none of that other junk.
