At this present time I am unable to install my wireless pc card. It worked before, but after trying to install PC-Cillin I am unable to access the internet. When I install the wireless card the wireless window will only let me accesss the exit option; I cannot run the program. When I chech to see what wireless connections I have it states that "trend micro firewall" is installed. What is this program, and is it supposed to be on my pc. If not, can/how do I uninstall it? Thanks in advance for your support and guidance.

A firewall is an application that attempts to protect you from viruses, Trojans, etc.

If your wireless is not able to access the Internet, it could be that the firewall has not been told to allow it to do so. You might have to check the firewalls options to see how to do that.

Uninstalling the firewall is not a good idea.

re: "Uninstalling the firewall is not a good idea."

I would agree that connecting to the internet without a firewall is not a good idea, but we don't really know if uninstalling the TrendMicro firewall is OK or not.

If the OP already has a firewall, software or hardware, then uninstalling (or at least disabling) the TrendMicro firewall should be fine.

Additionally, if the installation was aborted or failed, attempting to uninstall could make things worse.

You said "trying to install". If you did not complete the installation, do so. Then if you wish to uninstall, go ahead. Otherwise configure the firewall for the type of connection you are using.

If you are unable to install it properly, call Trend Micro, they have a tech support toll free number.

The home page for Trend Micro PC-Cillin states that system requirements are WinXP sp2. Do you have service pack 2 installed? Also, if you have the default Windows security features enabled while installing that can cause issues.
I suggest you explore the trend micro CD afor installation instructions. May be called read me.txt. You should really try to get it installed properly and then if you don't want it you can Uninstall it Properly.
One more thing, it is always best to have ALL running programs closed when installing ANY program. Some will absolutely refuse to install properly unless that is done.
