Install it and it will speak for itself. Make sure to give it a fair chance and go to the extensions page and try some of them that you think you would like. They are what make Firefox great. If you don't like it you can always uninstall it, unlike IE. You can have both running at the same time without conflict.

IE still rules in my corner and will for sometime. Firefox is not a bad browser it is just not there yet, at least not for me. Just remember, opinions are like buttholes. We all have one and they all stink.

I've been using it as my default browser for some time. Other than the MS update sites, Shields Up is the only site I use that won't accept Firefox. It's fast, has a decent pop up blocker, no freezes, etc. It has timed out a few times on some very slow sites (and I'm on cable).

It's the way to go..

While IE is a good browser it's filled with Security holes. browse the internet for 3 hours then run an adaware scan. You'll find tons of junk loaded from websites that were allowed to pass right through IE..

Firefox wont allow that to pass through.
I remember I used Mozilla long ago. I uninstalled that and used the lite version. Then it was Firebird, now firefox.

Download and scrap IE. You'll like it..

I browse the internet with IE for many more hours than that day in and day out and the most I pick up is a tracking cookie. Oh... a big scary tracking cookie, run for the hills.

If you know how to secure your system you do not have much to worry about using IE and while not everyone knows how to secure their own system that is not my own fault. At least you gave me a good laugh with that comment because it shows pure ignorance.

Seriously though, it's good you like IE, if everyone was the same it would be a boring world. It's just nice to have an alternative if you want one.

I thought of skipping this one, but except for KTTD there were only pros here, so for the balance, here goes..

I used Firefox a couple of months, but had problems with a lot of sites, so I went back to Crazy Browser, which also gives you tabbed pages and a built in Pop up stopper.

domass,

I agree with your assessment on opinions and buttholes, however, the fact and history tell the story; Netscape & Mozilla browsers are more secure than Microsoft's IE browser.

In the last eight years, no other browser has been found to have as many security flaws in it as Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

As for problems with Firefox, remember folks, Firefox is still in pre-release stage. Many issues with this browser still remain.

To my recollection, after AOL acquired Netscape a few years ago, a number of Netscape coders left and started the Mozilla project to preserve choice and innovation on the Internet.

Read about the Mozilla.org mission

As for Opera all I can tell you is I tried it and prefer the Mozilla browser.

I may switch to Firefox one day but I am not ready for it and I do not think it is ready for the real world, just not yet.

A year from now I might be using it. It is not a bad browser it just needs some improvements. Till then I will cuddle up with IE everynight :)

Still to many pages requesting plugins and then when you download the plugin the page still does not render correctly and rerequest the plugin. I know this is more Microsoft's fault the Mozilla's but in the real world while I will use Firefox as much as possible IE will still be my default browser.
I may be imagining things but text and images seem just a tad sharper with Firefox
