hi can anyone help i seem to have lost the little box asking what i want to do when i load a cd also cd's dont autoplay

Right click the drive in explorer and choose properties then auto play.

thanks i tried it after i clicked on auto play the box came up but i still can get it to start auto even after trying restore defaults thanks for your help

Are you talking about when you are installing a program from it's install cd or you want it to start window media player when you put in a music cd?

Have you ever been in gpedit.msc, I know you can disable auto play all together in there you might check and see if it is disabled. You type gpedit.msc in the run box and look in Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System there it will give the option to disable or enable. Also, when in the properties of the drive in explorer on autoplay. You can click the little arrow on the right side of the box where it says music files and a drop down box will give options for different kind of cd files.
