What did I do WRONG !!!!

Hi Techies, I have done so many tweaks; now my desktop appears in 28sec. but the ability to click the bottom taskbar ( browser, OE, start, etc )takes 2MINUTES. what did I do??? re-image right??? ( hope not )

XP is wonderfull for loading itself but your lag could be "other" programs loading after the fact because XP loads first then other programs.
Run msconfig from the run command and you'll see what's slowing the system up in the startup tab and some in the services tab (hide microsoft services).
Another kicker is that XP is meant to be "networked" - defaulting the system to "hang" until the network is confirmned.

What is people's obsession with speed ? Leave the computer running if booting is such a problem. My access time is about 5 seconds that way.
