These two executables, WToolsA.exe and WToolsS.exe, are continuously consuming greater than 50% CPU (viewed through Task Master). The cursor hourglass is continuously displayed, but does not stop me from running other applications. Processing is a little slower. The hourglass is annoying.
I noticed, however, that the .exe's do not run as much when the Internet Explorer browser is running.
These .exe's are in my c:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\ folder.
This situation began about two days ago. It seems to have started when I had trouble displaying a .pdf file downloaded from a library research database service. I have used this service before without any trouble. My current problem may be coincidental.
I would like information on what these .exe's do. Is there anything I can do to keep them from executing so long so that the hourglass isn't displayed throughout the time that I'm logged on.
Thanks.

im having the exact same problems as SLouise with the WToolsA and S.exe where the hourglass is constant the link that is mikeo's message is down and i dont know when it will be up and running again could someone advise me

I started having this problem a few days ago. I did the following while I was on the internet since I couldn't end WSup.exe/WToolsS.exe, and WtoolsA.exe processes otherwise. And it took several tries to end them.
Then I went to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Wintools
I could not move Wintools folder to recylcle bin so had to move each component individually. There were two folders in Wintools: Temp and Update...I check them for modules to delete also. It seems some of the modules had to be deleted before others could. I just kept trying to delete until all were gone. Only one, WToolsB.dll,
could not be deleted so I renamed it to .dllx. I've kept everything in the recycle bin in case of trouble. However, I have recycled the system and so far, the hour glass has not been back. Hope this helps. p.

Still battling this problem. Spybot and Ad-aware detected several bad files, but could not eliminate all.
I tried deleting the WToolsA, WToolsS, and all the WinTools files hoping for the same success Paphillips found. I cannot delete or EndProcess on these files because they run continuously.
In my search for info, I found the www.wintools.net website. At the bottom of the home page is the notice " 'WToolsA.exe', 'WToolsS.exe', WSup.exe', WinTools Easy Installer' and 'WinTools' for internet explorer v2 are not our products. We do not spread viruses and trojans! Please use any antivirus program to remove viruses from your computer."
I can't recall anything I did to cause these files to be loaded on my PC.
I am now seeking help from Tom Coyote and the HijackThis software. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
