OS: Windows XP [SP2]
CPU/Ram: 2.80Ghz / 1.48GB
Product: Intel :(
Comment:

I'll soon be upgrading to a 3.2Ghz Pentium 4 processor, and with my 1.48GB of RAM, I think my PC is strong enough for a good graphics card.

What kind of AGP 8x graphics card should I get? I wanna be able to run the new games [like Battlefield 2] on the highest settings without my FPS dropping, I'm looking for one under $250, but I could go a bit higher.

I'm not very experienced with computer hardware so please try not to confuse me with your big words. :P

Any one of these cards are the best AGP card you're gonna get. Only thing is, make sure your PSU is up to par. You will need at least a 450 watt psu.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with the above list. If you want the best possible gaming with AGP, stay away from cards that use 64-bit memory & GDDR2. Look for cards that use at least GDDR3 at either 128-bit or 256-bit. The Radeon HD 3850 is THE best AGP card available - it's doubtful there will ever be anything better.

BTW, your question should have been posted in the hardware forum.

Jam is right. I didn't realize my list included cards other than the 3850.

Will this 3850 work on an AGP 4X OR 8X? I think mines 8X.

Would this work well on a 3.2Ghz P4 processor and 1.48GB of RAM?

Would I need to overclock the 3.2Ghz P4 processor when I get it?

And is this card still available in stores?

Yes it will work. You don't have to OC your cpu, but you might want to upgrade your RAM to 2 gigs. The most important thing is your PSU. You need a 450 watt psu minimum. It's available from a number of stores. I use Newegg.com. The prices are good and service is excellent. Click on the links in the above replies to see it at Newegg. Good Luck...
