There is no DOS in XP. It is gone, goodbye. You can make a DOS boot disk and boot to DOS that way or you can use the built in command prompt but it is not DOS even though it has left over DOS commands.

DOS is dead. RIP Disk Operating System.

What's your intended use of dos? As has been said, XP has no dos. Many dos apps will run in command box - but you may have problems with games. If you want to run some batch stuff, command prompt is similar to dos - has a similar command set (with more available - and commands often have different parameters to dos equivalent).
