My friend just got a new Dell laptop. She is trying to connect it to our wireless network. I initially set up the network. The network uses WEP incription. I used to know the WEP key... but I have forgotten it. I tried to find it on my computer, but it just shows as eight dots. It is also not on the outside of the Microsoft Wireless base station. Is there any way to find the key? Thanks for all your help.

The WEP is set up on your wireless router software. Can you get into your router software. If you can you might have and option there for security. It might show up there or you might have and option to regenerate a new one.

When you say you knew the web key you are talking the phrase not the numbers/letters right?

Logon to the router and go to the web key page. Write down the generated key.

Input that into the laptop wireless web interface and the laptop should connect with no problem.

Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search
