I have the same problem, although mine occurs even without even putting it into stand-by mode. My isp disconnects me every two hours, but I always reconnect straight away. Most times, this isnt a problem, but some times I have exactly the same problem. No net apps will work ping, http, nntp etc.

If I run ipconfig from a cmd shell, there are two tcp/ip adapter entries. The first lists the ip address as 0.0.0.0, the second as a the correct details. If I run ipconfig when it is working ok, there is only one tcp/ip adapter entry. So I am guessing the root of the problem is that xp is trying to use the bad adapter.

The question is why and how to stop it...anyone help....please.

Cee
