I already posted this before, but i didnt get any help on it, and i have always got help from here, so i must not have got the right people to see this, so im trying again.

Im not sure how to describe it, but its a window in my start bar that just pops up and then disappears a split second later. It has no name in it and no icon with the window. I cant figure this out. I've ran Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Ad-Aware, and HijackThis. None of them come up with anything. Ive been in taskmanager when it comes up and nothing new pops up in it when it shows up. I've double, and triple checked everything thats running on my computer to the best of my knowledge and i cant figure out why this is doing this. No window pops up on the desktop either, its just a 'minimized' window. It comes up about every 7-15 minutes. It doesnt come up when im on the internet either. I could be just sitting there on the desktop, or playing a game. It just flashes for an instance and then disappears. It just did it right now as i type this. If i could get a print screen i would show you what im talking about, but its so fast its hard to get your finger on the key.

Im wondering if there is a program that will monitor programs that start up and shut down on my computer. So that it can get the process thats causing it. Or if anyone knows of something else that could help me with this.

You can view your Event Log. That will show you the System, Security, and Application logs.

To add to the above--
Go into Event Viewer then right click
each catagory (System, Security, and Application),
then click "Clear all events".
When Prompted to Save, do not save.

Then the next time it happens, look at logs.

Another solution that would consume alot of your
time--
How
to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP

To help troubleshoot error messages or other
issues when you cannot determine the cause of
the issue, disable common startup programs,
settings, and drivers to eliminate possible
software conflicts when you start Microsoft
Windows XP. This procedure is known as
"clean booting."

I'm guessing that the reason why nothing new "pops up" in task manager when the window pops up is because the task is always running. You could do a google search on any runing applications that you do not know the source of. You might also want to check any scheduled tasks as well.

Okay, thanks for the info. I will try this stuff once my computer is started up. Im running chkdsk /f at the moment, and its taking a really long time. Its at 93% on step 5 of 5 and its been going for about 45 minutes now.

I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2, Ill add that next time i make a post or something.

I have checked into some of the processes already using google, and nothing comes up out of the ordinary, or anything that i havnt had installed on my system in the past.

Thanks for your help
