Hi, I'm expierincing a very weird problem.
setup:
2 PC's, 1 running winXP, 1 dualboot linux and winNT4
they are connected to the campusnetwork via lan.
both are on the same gateway and both were able to connect to the internet without any problems.
I was cleaning up the XP-computer, and when I removed imesh and some spyware (uninstall and the rest with ad-aware), I couldn't surf the internet anymore.I can ping my onw IP, the ip of other computers on the network, but no computers outside the campusnetwork.
the weirdest thing is that I can ping a webserver on the network, but when I want to go to the website, I get a 404 error.the other computer can still connect to the internet without any problems.
I tried another ip, but that didn't help, so I know that the computing centre of the network didn't blok my ip.
I uninstalled the networkcard, reinstalled it and reconfigured the ip-addresses. checked the nameservers, the gateway, hostname. everything seems to be correct. could it be caused by the removing that specific software? (imesh, savenow, sahagent,...)any ideas (besides reinstalling the OS)?
Johan

to make it even more complicated:
I wanted to try and see if the software that I removed was responsable for it and installed imesh again.
guess what, MSN can connect again to the internet.
I installed opera, and opera can connect without any problems, so I think it's a internet explorer problem.any ideas on how to locate the problem?
Johan
