I'm noticing some strange behavior. It seems like something is stealing the focus from whatever I'm working on every once inawhile. I'm not really sure what's going on. It doesn't seem like my computer is freezing but sometimes I just can't click on anything on my screen and I have to hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and then close that, and then it works again for a little while. I just ran a defrag and that hasn't seemed to fix anything. I noticed it yesterday while running remote desktop but I've closed and restarted since then and I still have the problem even without remote desktop running. In eclipse I can't seem to use the arrow keys or the backspace key as well. Could it be a random virus or something? Seems doubtful

Do you usually have Internet Explorer running when it happens?

A wild guess...

Try disabling java from within IE's Managed Add-ons to see if the problem goes away.

While in Managed Add-ons check out the Java version number as you may simply need to update it. It should be 1.6.x.

It might also help if you were more specific than 2/2 for the cpu/ram.

2ghz and 2 gb. Now I'm having the same problem on my
desktop. I can't tell what's wrong . Even in safemode. My
laptop is currently formatting so that should solve but I
don't want to format my desktop. I'm running a virus scan
but if the problem happens in safemode...

the format finished but the problem is still there. It can't
possibly be a virus can it? The only two things I did were
plug in my external and my wireless mouse.

Given what you write it could very well be a hardware issue. Overheating would be the first thing I would look into.

Example of Oxymoron:

Person who is pro life and anti sex education.
Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion.

Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

Overheating on both my laptop and my desktop? Doubtful. I figured out what was causing the problem. It was the wireless mouse. I don't know why it decided it was going to act all weird but it was definitely the mouse. Now I have it sitting in the closet as a reminder not to touch it and I feel stupid that I formatted.
