weird audio control

OS: xp pro sp1
CPU/Ram: 2.2gz 256mb

ok. pci c-media installed and working (ish)
on board sound disabled.
I can hear sounds in windows, but any movie is silent. plus audio properties bring up no sound card at all???????????

how is that possible?
on board soundcard is disabled in bios too.

Check to see if it the latest driver. Thats about the only advise I can offer.
