I'm looking for software (preferably free) that will rip or copy the html and .jpg files from my website.

The important thing is that they are copied as separate files - as they exist at the site - not a composite.

Any suggestions?

yes, I have a suggestion. Don't try and steal someone else's content while trying to make us believe it is yours. IF it is YOUR site, then either 1) you would already have those files locally or 2) you would have access to the files through FTP. So, there is no reason you would need an application to copy the files for you.

In any event you don't appear to be too bright since you can accomplish what you are asking for through IE - and I am not talking about the "save as web page complete" option that saves the page as one big file. You can download all the files individually.

First, sincere thanks to RTAdams89 and H for the tips on offline browsers. Not having been familiar with these utilities, I find myself with many to choose from.

What proof or evidence do you possess that the site is not mine? None.

The original files on my drive were lost. Being relatively new to PCs and the Net, I mistakenly thought that FTP was an upload-only process.

You can download all the files individually.

Since I'm on a phone line, and there are 20 megs of files at my site, individual downloading would be tedious at best. I was simply exploring all the alternatives.

So, Michael J, you start with baseless accusations and end with unfounded assumptions - contributing nothing.

Who is not too bright now?

What are you talking about? When you access a page via a browser it has to download all the files individually as well, so how is that superior to FTP. With FTP you don't have to travers all the pages or "hope" that some software traverses all the pages correctly.

Just log in through FTP highlight all the files and folders and drag them to your desktop. There's no software to install, it's simple, and it would be the fastest method.

And, no I have no "proof", but when someone asks how to get their website content through the means you are asking it tells me that they don't have access to those files to begin with and they are not their files.

I appologize if that is not the case, but there are a lot of posts on these forums with questions like "How do I mount this image of a program I downloaded" or "What's the best software for ripping my personal DVDs (wink wink)".

OT: michael, my good man, first u call him a bullsh*tter, now you accuse him of theft ... what's the matter with you???

as for the problem, if for some reason you do not have ftp access to you site, you can use winHTtrack ... it's free.

winHTtrack will download entire websites (any, not just your own:-) and save them on your harddrive, all files, complete directory structure, etc.

I guess you skipped over the part where I stated that I appologized if that was not the case. I still stand behind my comment that if someone is supposed to be able to have access to the files that they would not have to use such a method. As the OP stated he already has access through FTP, but did not realize that you could download through FTP.

As someone who works in this industry for a livelyhood I take it more seriously than others.

nothing wrong with taking matters seriously ... still, if you're not comfortable ask question first, express your concerns, but do not start accusing the poster of all sorts of criminal intentions up front :-)
