Webcam not working in XP

Hi All

Hope you can help with this annoying problem.

I have a webcam, it works in Linux yet on XP it wont install the drivers I have the proper cd for it, I have also downloaded them from the net and none of them seem to work????

Any Ideas??

XP driver for Mustek Webcam 300A is available for download from this site.

You also need to follow the driver installation instructions given HERE for your webcam to work in Windows XP.

I have tried all of that before it wtill wont take it?

Its as if I dont have the right drivers?

I am no computer guru but your problem sounds identical to a similar one I had a year or two ago with a Genius webcam. For what it is worth my gut feeling is that XP defaults to it’s own drivers no matter what, and although my memory is a bit hazy on the subject now I found when installing the driver software instead of using the one highlighted I tried another option on the list labeled, ”other” and it worked and has remained working ever since. It seemed as if the true driver was being ignored by XP in favor of the first one found.
