webcam gain control O.o

hi, i have a logitech webcam (quickcam messenger) and i like tio ajust the settings for brightness etc. however, one of thsoe settings - automatic gain control always resets itself to being on (the default setting) this mean i have to change it evertime i want to use my webcam
anyone know how i can turn this setting off permentenly, or maybe use another program to set it up which will save this setting (i use logitechs program which loads itsself with windows)
