I'm doing a bit of php development and I was looking to bring a bit of work home too .

Does xp home have a built in web server (my past experience was that 98 had PWS and NT had IIS)as I don't really want to upload & test on remote server.

If not what would be an easy solution to install?

Thanks

Windows XP Home Edition does not come with a web server. Windows XP Professional has IIS on it.

Mandrake or Redhat Linux are pretty easy to install and they come with the Apache web server. You can download either OS for free.
If you're not familiar with Linux, I recommend Mandrake because it has more wizards and such.

Of course you could go out and buy XP Pro too if you just want to spend money.

I put Mandrake on my little sister's computer (she'd never had a computer before) and she finds it fairly easy.
