Specs: xp home edition, 100 meg
webpages load only partially if at all. connection timed out errors. what do I do?

firefox green horizontal status bar goes only 3/4 of the way, and stays there
while computer churns. About one out of six attempts results in a fully
loaded webpage.

i recently exorcized my computer from the SmitFraud demon worm.
computer was running good. I followed one SmitFraud solution and deleted
files bxlrvps.dll, alofkmn.dll, fkxvkns.exe. My computer stated running clunky
but still continued to load webpages run with no problems.

Unsuccessful solutions I've tried. 1) Reinstalling Firefox, F-Prot, and SPYBOT,
2) Running Firefox with HOSTS file active and inactive, 3) Putting my DSN server
address into the Internet Protocol TCP/IP on Networks Connections so servers
can do that reverse look-up thing, 4) Cleaned all viruses, spyware
etc., played with firewall settings, examined cookies, startup programs, services
settings, 5) FILEMON shows no unknown programs running.

XP Home Edition
Pentium computer (not brand name)
wireless internet
my disk drive is almost maxed out but not quite.

You may still have some viruses. I suggest you run scans with various methods.

Celsius is correct you should probably run a couple more online scanners first.

Unfortunately, sometimes when you remove a virus you will end up removing files that you need for your computer to work properly.

You may end up needing to reinstall.
