if windows doesn't detect it automatically (ie: no plug and play drivers), you will need to install the usb drivers for your webcam. If you don't have it, you need to go online and find the drivers for it. Once you have the drivers installed, and windows xp can see your webcam...you now need some webcam software (it should have come with your webcam). usually they give certain software out, like one to make movies, another to broadcast on the web, another to upload pics to websites, etc...
