My web has been hijacked with a home page of hot web search. I can go into tools and change the home page to www.msn.com but when I close the internet and relaunch the same thing comes back. I know this is some type of spyware virus. So I purchased spyhunter and ran the program and it found 26 items. So I deleted them all. Same thing after I relaunched the internet. So I purchased McAfee virus 2004 and ran a virus scan. Same thing. I have downloaded all of the freeware programs I could think of, but nothing seems to work. Do ya think I am going to have to format my HD? Oh by the way I have Ad-Aware in my computer also and enabled the firewall.

I know pestcontrol does not really handle too well hijacked issues, but it definetly helps stop some of this pests taking over, however to remove them, then you gone need spybot.

The easyiest way to kill those processes running in the background is to use a tool called process explorer from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml, once the processes are no longer running you can make changes and clean those pests, to stop then from loading again you could use autoruns from the same site: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/autoruns.shtml
