Comment:
I just puchased a WD 200 GB hard drive, it is only getting detected up to 127 GB. I understand that i must install SP2 in order for it to recognize it as 200 GB, is this true? and if so is there any other way or thing i can do instead of having to install sp2?

The other way is SP1. Watch for comments from others.

Also to say, you can go here, Western Digital, and read about size limitations of harddrives:
http://support.wdc.com/kb.asp
click "size limitation" that is to the right of the cartoon.

Not necessarily so. The Windows 137GB Capacity Barrier is also known as 48-bit Logical Block Addressing Support for ATA (IDE), Serial ATA or ATAPI disc drives. The 137GB limitation does not affect SCSI interface disc drives.

I could be wrong, but I don't think SP-1 for XP has anything to do with the 137GB limit. I've been running a WD 180GB for almost two years in W2000+SP3 and XP Pro without ANY service pack. I had to do a bios update for LBA only.
