way to add extensions to many files

i have 500+ files in a folder with no extenstion. if want to add the same extension to all of them would i have to do it manually or maybe theres some way to do it with a program or something?

You can do it from the command prompt (start>run, type in cmd).
The syntax would be something like...
ren c:\miscfiles\*.* *.doc

Just a small note... response #2 will affect all files in a directory, so only do it if there are no other files there aside from the ones you want to rename.

Are you sure these files have no extensions? If you have hide extensions for known files type enabled, the file extensions will not show.
What kind of files are these?

I agree with stuart. I believe WinXP doesn't show extensions for common file types. It would be unusual for files to exist without an extension.

If these files truly have no extension then response #2 will work fine, just leave off the second "*"
ie ren c:\miscfiles\*. *.doc
This will ONLY rename those files with NO extension
