I have wav files that I have create myself that I use as backing tracks and I use my laptop to plug into my PA system to play them live. I now have a ipod nano that I want to use instead of the laptop but how do I get the wav files to the ipod I'm having trouble and wonder is it something to do with XP.

I should add I would prefer not to convert those wav files to mp3 because the quality drops to much for my liking.

You can always keep the originals and not convert those, but If you put the files on your iPod, the file format will change to iPod format, m4a.

i'm pretty sure, iTunes will convert WAV to m4a (yet another lossy format but the only format an iPod can handle)

If you mount the ipod like a generic storage device, you can then bypass the itunes software and copy it directly to the device much like you would to any other USB/Flash RAM device. Do NOT put anything in ANY folders that were created by the ipod/itunes softwares so that you can still use the device for these purposes.
If you try to use itunes it will convert and compress them.
