when in msn messenger i keep getting signed out when downloading (doesnt matter if i use a d/l manager). Sometimes even when listening to online radio.
my ISP says there is nothing wrong with the internet at their end.
i have never had this prob with former internet providers. the one im with now is DoDo internet Australia (in conjunction with comindico.com.au).
it does this on both computers without fail. one is running windows 98 se with a Texas Instruments Internal 33.6k modem and the other a Lucent WinModem 56k on windows xp pro. (i also have these computers networked). i have the latest drivers for both. but i highly doubt its the configuration of these modems or the phone line.
when downloading it totally drains every last resource out of the connection and doesnt leave enuff for msn, icq and yahoo are fine tho. i no msn messenger is screwed up but i dont think its to do with them.
is there any way of giving more priority over msn messenger? this is a real pain, its been doin it for about 6 months (its been happening since i changed ISPs). like is there any registry string i can edit? or program i could run?
thanks in advance, this has got me stumped!

This happens to me on messenger all the time as well, but i dont really think theres much u can do about it - so many people are getting hotmail accounts and joining messenger these days, i should think its just getting overloaded.
Good luck
AlexPS - if u or anyone does find any solution please let me know, cos its annoying when u get signed out mid-way through conversation!

yeh but msn has features i use like webcam and voice chat and remote assistance and stuff like that. stuff which other messengers dont support. i have tried messengers that are alternatives to MSN messenger such as Vista, Trillian, Odigo etc but im not a big fan of them.
one thing i found was that trillian didnt sign me out from msn. wierd....
i also had another idea on how this problem could b fixed, does anyone know of any alternative MSN messenger servers? cos in the registry it has an address in there for it and i thought if i could find an alternate addy it MAY work
