|I somehow removed registry files and could not open almost anythig with an .exe extension in Windows XP. Thanks to this advice I found from Tufenuf, I now have my computer functionning. Am SO thankful that smart people are willing to help others!|

Go to the link below and scroll down to line 12 (left column) and click on "EXE (lnk and regfile) Fix for Windows XP" to download a ref file and save it somewhere you can easily find it.
Now press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager. Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key and click New Task (Run). This will open a Command Prompt window. Enter REGEDIT.exe and press Enter.
If the registry editor opens click File>Import and browse to find that reg file you downloaded and left click it to hilite it then click the Open button and hopefully it will merge the contents into the registry then restart your computer. Post back with the results.
