i want to get my other computer a 98 hooked up to my computer that has internet and run a network thorugh my os, beca i think thats cheapest way but i need some ideas to connect them because it has to go bout 60 feet. im running xp which has the cable internet.

Ethernet cable connection (running ICS/Internet Connection Sharing) is the least expensive. Next alternative (if running ethernet cable is a problem) would be wireless NICs, but if you are going that far might just as well go one more step and get a wireless router with ethernet ports (those for the 11b protocol are becoming inexpensive) and hook one by ethernet and other via wireless NIC. With ICS, host PC must be on for other one to access Internet; with router, both access it independently.

you don't have to go through ICS, at least i am not
cable modem and wireless router in living room
computer with usb wireless network adapter
installed adapter software and router software...then bingo i am online in the bedroom
my laptop has a mini-pci wireless network card and i can connect to my home network without going through ICS and i can be online at the same time with both computers, too

I think, tbird, if you will read my post, I did not say that you had to use ICS with a router; to the contrary, I said that a router was the best choice because, unlike ICS where the host PC had to be on, with a router each PC accesses the Internet independently.
