In a nutshell,
Put your XP cd in the drive and rebootr your computer ,you should get a promp to boot from cd hit any key...Do as Homer says and hit the anykey...lol.
From there you will be given the option to format and install XP.
Also select NTFS as your file system..
Follow the bouncing ball..
Good luck, post back if you have any other questions...

AHHHH! i did "format c:" in ms dos, though now it won't read from my cd and i don't have a floppy start up disk because it's a new windows xp cd (which i lost the product key for but that's another story). It just has an C: prompt and i don't know what to do... i tried just entering d: though it says invalid whatever..?? I wish i had put the cd in first:S!!!!!!!

Hi jessie
Put your xp cd disk in the cd drive.
The windows xp disk is bootable ie will start your pc however you need to tell the pc bios that .
so...
restart your pc,immeadiatley hit the delete key , this gets you into the bios, now locate "boot sequence" and change the order of the boot sequence so the cdrom boots first, then ide1 hdd 0 is second.
(change nothing else!)
reboot .

the pc should boot directly from the cd
now you can follow the xp setup installer .

use fat32 if your not sure what your doing
saves alot of messing about if you go back to win98 (i just clocked your pc spec)

;)
