Solved want to add icons to .dll for use on desktop

September 22, 2011 at 09:17:47
Specs: Windows XP
how to add icons for use on the desktop. Should I learn how to build and new .dll to add to the windows folder or should I try adding to shell32.dll and if so... need a procedure that properly integrates the new icon to the system...

Thanks

It might be a lot easier to save some .ico files into a spare folder and select them as alternatives when you want to change icons in a shortcut. That is what I have done.

There are websites where you can get .ico files for free and programs that can find them in your system. Most computers have thousands of them that are not inside shell32.dll.

Thanks Derek,
Brilliant minds... I just created the folder and have an industrious young lad who is artistic creating exactly the .ico's we need in microangelo and saving them off to the folder. He is doing a bang up job..they look great. thank you for your response..

Thank you again
