Want the old search explorer bar back

All in all I have no regrets moving up from Windows 98 to windows XP pro, but the one thing I can't stand about XP is what happened to the Search Explorer Bar on IE. It used to be that you'd do a search say in Yahoo and the results would post inside the the bar on the lefthand side. Now you got to go through menu hell to change the search behavior and the results post on the main field, which is far less efficient. Is there any way to bring back the old search explorer bar where search results show in the bar and not on the main page?

Something wrong there. I use Win XP Pro and the Search Explorer Bar on IE is on the left hand side. IE is version 6, and clicking on History brings up the bar with all sites visited??

There IS a way to go back to the old Search Explorer bar after all--you select the "classic" search explorer bar. But the funny thing now is that under Customize there is no Google whereas before I could find google among all the other search behaviors. I guess google isn't offered in the Classic one.
