I have yahoo'd and googled for answers -- I understand what a 0xd1 error is but have been unable to find any information on wanarp.sys except that it is a system file.

I really need to know is where i can get a copy of it to reinstall on the machine or if this error is something that I shoul worry about.

I find on my XP Home Ed. that wanarp.sys is
"MS Remote Access and Routing ARP Driver"
located in
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

Try System File Checker:
Open the Command Prompt, then type:

sfc /scannow

note space between the c and /
Have XP CD in your drive.

Also may have helped to know what you were doing
when that happened ??

Also check for bad sectors on your harddrive. File may reside on a bad one.
How to Perform Disk Error Checking in Windows XP
Perhaps the easier way to go is "To run Chkdsk
from My Computer or Windows Explorer"
Check mark both items under "Check Disk Options",
on your way into starting Error-Checking Tool.

Note that the file indicated by the error message may not be the file with the problem. It's very often a problem with the application 'calling' the indicated file.

Sorry, I do not check for private messages

The user who was using this PC was on the internet (wireless). She does not remember if she was checking her email (Outlook) or just surfing at the time. I will try all of the above but have to wait until the user gets back from being out of town.

I really appreciate all of the help!

Thanks and I will keep you all posted.
