I was wondering what type of WAN miniport comes with XP by default? I installed a vpn, then removed the vpn. Then something happened and I had to do a system restore. My vpn files are gone already, but they're still listed in the registry. WAN MiniPort is still somehow running as a service, even though I disabled it. It prevents me from hibernating or going into standby. I've gone into the registry and erased most of them, but then I also find alot of other WAN MiniPort entries that seem different (The VPN has WAN MiniPort(ATV), and the other WAN's have different abbreviations after them).

If I do a re-install and then uninstall it, will that fix my registry? Or would it add even more to my registry? When I had win98se, programs would sometimes add themselves several times to the registry, yet only remove one when you click uninstall...
