I've had this problem, well really an annoyance, for a long time now. I had put a wallpaper, the dark side of the moon logo, i found on the internet as my wallpaper and it worked great for a while, then for reasons unknown it changed. as i begin to start my computer i see the DSOTM logo like i should, but then when it's done and the explorer bar and icons are up the entire background becomes the color of the border that i chose in control panel> display> desktop> and the drop down menu for Color. the DSOTM logo reappears like it should when shutting down as well. any help here?

thanks

"the color of the border that i chose in control panel> display> desktop> and the drop down menu for Color"

Here's your problem. When you pick a colour from that drop down menu, it selects a colour for your whole background. Forget that and pick a background, If you wanted a colour for the background of your icon text, you need to go into the "Appearance" Tab then "Advanced" and pick a colour for the Item "Desktop".

I understand that and it makes sense but i cannot negate the effects of the color choice and i have a background picked, and in the preview of it it looks like it should, yet when applied the color keeps overriding the background

Sometimes it still reverts back to the border color, im very confused, sometimes i can put the image back up on the desktop but it takes a lot of tinkering, im sorry about the false assumptions, i guess i counted my chickens before they hatched, any more details as to how to negate the border colors?
