wallpaper hijacked

can someone please help my wallpaper has been hijacked and the icons are all highlighted. i ran all of the virus and spyware protection it cleaned all spyware and viruses off but now my wallpaper has turned white when i shut down or turn on computer i see my origianl wall paper and then it goes right back to a white screen. it will not let me change my wallpaper when i go under display.

How is the wallpaper in Windows Safe-Mode ?
Best to do your spyware and viruses scans in the Safe-Mode.

i have already ran in safe mode the screen is black in safe mode. this is were i got the most of the viruses off in safe mode. but when i go back to narmal mode it just reappears

You are in an XP forum but unsure of your operating system? You do know if in XP or Me you need to shut doewn system restore before removing any virus or spyware, or prepare to see them back?
