Hi Folks. This is a problem i can't figure out. On my old Compaq computer haden't used it for some time. it needed to be formated so i did all that went well, until i tried to install win 98 on it.it went through all the processes like it always did but when it asked for the code number to start the install the keyboard wouldn't work,worked up untill that point so i tried again the same thing happened many more times. i changed keyboards and no go. i checked in the setup and the key board was listed.so later i tried again and it gave me a keyboard like help thing i checked the box it was like a small key board on the screen i had to used the mouse to type it in. it worked until it ask for my name to be typed in and again it was again stopped would appreciate any advice. Thank Tommy

Hi,

Is this a USB keyboard.

If so this is likely to be your problem.

USB will not be active and working until after the O/S is installed.

Use a PS2 keyboard
