Somehow Zone Alarm (your Firewall) is blocking your connection to that database.
If you have to shut down ZA to connect then you need to give access rights to that program and it will connect then.
Set ZA to ASK you for ANY program that WANTS to connect and then go and try to connect to the database in question and a POPUP WINDOW will ASK you, and then click YES.

I have installed Zone Alarm (not pro) on my Dell 4400 (Windows XP), and now whenever I try to download email (using Outlook Express) my computer freezes up. Windows Task Manager shows that vsmon is using 99% CPU.

Anyone have this problem? Any suggestions for a fix?

Thanks much,
Jerilyn

I'm having the same problem. Win Xp and ZoneAlarm Pro. After an hour or so, VSMON.exe uses more and more CPU-power. I think I'm having this problem only when using WinMX (file-sharing program) in the background.

A "solution" is to shut down vsmon.exe and restart it immediately.

Perhaps someone has a real solution??

If you set winmx to make a secondary connection you will not have this problem as I have found out.

I used the free zonealarm and at first only Zonealarm came up in the system tray. A couple of days ago my computer started trying to automatically dial into the net as soon as Zonealarm loaded. I also noticed my modem slowing down and computer crashed a few times. After trial and error I found a new program Vsmon running in the system tray. I think it's a Trojan. I don't know much about these things but I noticed that my My Computer icon flickers after Zonealarm loads which I have read can indicate a Trojan. How do I stop my computer from automatically dialling in? How do I get rid of this probable Trojan?

I am running Win 2K Server, Athlon 1400 and 512 mb memory. I have the exact same problem as mentioned above, combination of WinMX and ZoneAlarm Pro. ZA is using using 85% to 90% of system resources and virtually bringing the system to a sluggishness boarding on a hault. I have reset WinMX as a secondary connection and things have improved. After several days of operation, we will know. Thanks for all the input and suggestions!

My understanding is that creating a primary connection to the winmx network makes your computer a member of the winmx backbone. With a primary connection, your system resources help support secondary users whose file and search queries can be routed through your computer. Winmx notes that a secondary connection to the network will produce "better results" if your computer is "on a LAN or otherwise firewalled" (Zone Alarm). I think that an over-taxed cpu is due mostly to the role your computer plays on the winmx network as a primary connection rather than the issue of connecting through a firewall.
